Luncheon Meat-Style

Ths is by far the best for meat-free products i've tried. I did try perhaps 3-4 times trying these vegan, vegetarian meatless products and they tasted from off from what the actual product is supposed to taste like. Most of the time, 6/10 it even doesnt taste good, thats why i sort of showed less interest in these meat-less products. Until recently when my friend mentioned about 7Eleven offering plant based products and the KFC Plant based burgers.

I havent tried the 7Eleven or perhaps I did and just didnt gave a good impression or perhaps I havent tried, perhaps the bias of 7Eleven and some of it offering. So hearing about the KFC got me excited coz I know KFC is particular with flavors and how it taste, imaging you have 11 herbs and spices, you know something they do will taste good with those spices. I can attest to this coz back when i was a vegetarian i used to cook my own meal, potato and i springkle herbs and stuff and turn it to like adobo tasting, some friends would say this taste better than some karenderia adobo.

The KFC plant based burgers didnt disappoint me, infact its my only choice now, I would even say I will opt for the plant based but more of its in the only burger in the menu if you get what I trying to say. Perhaps I have to write something of fastfood plant based stuff. My apologies about writting much about the KFC plant based, its actually sort of a build up background.

Anyway, after that background, I saw very recently these canned of meat-less products, called unMeat, it has corned beef which I havent tried and the Luncheon Meat-Style. I was buying SPAM less sodium coz the original just gives out out too much oil explosions, and I saw this so I decided to try it, P99 versus SPAM was like close of P200 or more. so why not, its smaller than SPAM like interms of height, lets say half, my point here is, with the price you can try and see, unlike the previous products I tried, they were sort of pricey since they healtier and you end up double disappointed not even happy with the taste and there is a hole in your wallet. Sometimes these companies offering healthy options are not there to help out but more of prey on people that are required to eat healthy food. Its like when you were a kid and the medicine didnt taste good but you have to take it, coz you have to. Affordable or not, tasty or not you have to buy kind of thing.

Technology evolving pretty fast, including food and in this aspect replicating taste, so I said perhaps they have made some big moves when i comes to taste, I mean KFC pulled it, taking away the 11 secret herbs and spices, I mean texture and stuff, I mean come on does tufo feel like your eating meat? but the KFC patty is good I mean I wouldnt know, you know what mean.

Finally we are here, unMEAT! so first when I was slicing it, it has this grainy texture, I have to recall Maling or Purefoods Luncheon Meat texture, I prefer Maling vs Purefoods Chinese Style Lucnheon Meat. Yes It wasnt sort of oily compared to Spam but more or less like the luncheon meat so sort of the texture is the same.

So I did a test using pan oil fry and air fryer.

Left is the Air fryer thin slice and the right is Air fryer thick slice. I did this thickness test coz sometimes I want that crisy SPAM and sometimes I want that thick SPAM. Thick slice unMeat in the Air Fryer tasted good, I mean yes its way better than those previous meat-less products I had in terms of taste, this is one I enjoy eating. Although I tried the thin slices first I want to give some good stuff first, I dont recommend doing a thin slice since you know Air Fryers has this tendency to get things drier, this is meat-less no oil in them from real meat and no added oil, so it dries out. You cant get flavors but just that sort of crunch that like.By the way I didnt spray oil, perhaps it might help but I dont think so.

So the next one I did was to fry them, pan fry with oil.

I was just using vegetable oil. Left is unMEAT and right is SPAM. By the way I have noticed that the unMEAT had some burnt parts, I mean some ingredients got burned, like spots but it didnt affect the taste.Same test, thick and thin, and the pan fry with oil made a different, perhaps I will say a big difference. The flavor came out more, I can like say this is luncheon meat and the other is SPAM. Thick or thin, you choice, texture like the air fryer is you choice but this one in pan fry with out, the taste is better. Perhaps I will try spraying oil for the air fryer test next and see if it does help. But I think the pan fry gets the oil thru the slices I mean the very reason the air fryer is what it is all about, less oil but I have tried chicken and other stuff not spraying oil and they came out as good.
