We did enjoy the taste but a hurdle you need to overcome first
It's summer time so we decided visit this halo-halo place not too far from where we, are actually an etrike away. We wanted to get some halo halo.
Ive noticed this placed before, I've seen seen it as i pass by the area, before they used to be open in the mornings but now its like late in the afternoon, I understand coz when i visit this place for some pizza i was like standing with the sun hitting me at around 3pm. Now they are like open pass 3pm.
anyways, they offer silog and stuff just incase you dont feel eating halo-halo and you came to a halo-halo place. Have a meal first and then halo-halo dessert, you know what i mean.
Back to the recent experience, they didnt have avocado, oh by the way, one unique thing they have is that their halo-halo is flavor base, meaning mango, ube, avocado and the overload which is mixed of all flavors, So you can choose what flavor you want which is good. They dont have avocado, thats ok might not be in season, which is good so they use fresh ingredients so to speak, so we got the mango and ube, well im not gonna go for the overload and lacks the 3rd flavor ube for the same price.
No pizza, last tiime i visited, i was able to grab some Magic Pizza or Pizza Magic, which was way better than henyos pizza, also i was like in the oven waiting for it, I mean well its ok pizza fresh and hot right from the oven and so are you. So nothing to pair our halo-halo but silog meal, then again halo-halo is on its own the thing, then again the barquillos! something to pair, so we ended up buying the malungay bread for 2 pesos each, what a deal!, wiat till you see how small the 2pesos malungay pan de sal is. But better than silog or nothing to pair with your halo-halo.
Moving on, halo-halo is served! Looks good and packed!
The flavored fine ice, I've seen this way back before, some flavor their ice but this one with ice with milk. This is the new style of halo-halo, i like this style coz the ice doesnt taste like ice but it has flavor. Notice you go to some halo-halo place and you get ripped off with all ice kind of thing.
The challenge starts! the iced was so packed, you need to dig in or wait for few until the ice is soff to pierce your plastic spoon through it. While waiting, you can enjoy your corn flakes, make sure they dont slide off, and yes the ice cream version the flavor you picked. I wonder if they had avocado, what ice cream flavor it have been? perhaps vanilla?
Eventually as the ice softens you will now be able start mixing things up, this waiting is not in seconds like you typical halo-halo place this is like a few minutes with the mess up of fallling ice and corn flakes. The cup was tall and the spoon was your starndard spoon, so you can to consumer some ices before you can tilt the cup dip lower to scope the ingredients to mix it. The process was a challenge, it was a trial and error with stuff falling and tissue wiping.
The taste was good, i mean yeah its good, better than the cheap ones, on the side walk kind of thing. It;s good the corn kernels were soft, the buko strips were soft, and it wasnt too sweet. Taste wise this is above the typical.
Currently P75 for each flavor, while the overload was P100. So when i was about to pay I said to the lady, why no, fllan, when you said it's served with whole flan, hoping she would say, we forgot, but instead she just said we run out of flan. She didnt inform me about it tsk tsk tsk.
Beat the heat with some halo-halo and make sure the heat doesnt get inside your brain.
