What is a fatwood?
This is derived from the heartwood of a pine tree, it has this resin that makes it flammable and the fire last longer.
This particular fatwood is from the swedish light my fire group. It was so easy to scrape shavings from it using the ferrod striker. And making fine feather sticks was a breeze.
The ultimate test to this was catching fire and keeping the flame last longer. And for sure this fatwood by Light My Fire of Sweden, also known as Tinder-On-A-Rope , definitely passed with flying colors. I was able to lit the shavings in 2 strikes and 3 for the feather sticks.
I suggest that you get one of these for your camping gears or bug out bag and for emergency survival situation.
